Day 1: Formulation – Application on the pieces – Preparation of the alumina to place the pedestals – Placement of the pedestals and collectors Day 2: Theory of the crystalline glazes – How are they formed? – At what temperatures? – Firing schedules – Explanation of the different frits. How do they work? Which are the best for crystalline glazes? – Tips and tricks – Typical errors Day 3: Remove from the kiln – Separate the pieces from the catchers – Study of the results – More complicated topics such as post-reduction, crystalline glazes and reduction at the same time – Treatments with acid will be treated – Engobes with pigments will be discussed – Clarify last doubts – Questions

This masterclass takes place during ‘The Great Ceramics Summer Event’ in Duffel, Belgium e work outdoors under a luxurious stretch tent while enjoying the beautiful green surroundings. Required experience : You don’t need to be a glazing specialist (though it’s a plus), but you should have a basic knowledge of glazing and be planning to work with crystal glazes. In fact, you’re eager to learn everything about them!
