Kiho Kang is onze eerste Koreaanse Master ooit in de tent !

Hij studeerde af in 2009 in Korea als ‘Master in Fine Arts’ en deed vervolgens nog een ‘Master of fine arts’ in Koblenz .

Sinds 2008 wint hij de ene prijs na de andere en is zijn werk internationaal bekend en geliefd.

Les krijgen van hem is een unieke kans en mag je zeker niet missen!

The coil building technique is the oldest and most archaic technique. This type of vessel shaping has been cultivated in all cultures for centuries. The tactile quality and lightness of the ceramics will provide inspiration for course participants who like to build by hand to refine their own work.

You will learn this very high level coiling technique but also get fascinated by ‘making by hand’, without the help of machines. One of the goals of my class is to complete a tea pot.

Deze masterclass gaat door tijdens ‘De Grote Keramiekzomer’  in Duffel. We werken buiten onder een luxueuze stretchtent en genieten ondertussen van de prachtige groene omgeving. Ook lunchen doen we buiten. Tijdens deze keramiekzomer zijn er nog tal van aktiviteiten en workshops. Je kan het hele programma hier terugvinden. Inbegrepen in de prijs :

  • cursusgelden
  • gezonde, gevariëerde lunch (gelieve voedselallergieën door te geven +/- dagen op voorhand)
  • koffie , thee en water a volonté
  • 6 kg porselein
  • bakken niet inbegrepen maar kan afgesproken worden ter plaatse

benodigde ervaring : Volgende ervaring is noodzakelijk : basiservaring handopbouw , de verschillende droogstadia van klei kennen en weten hoe je stukken aan elkaar moet monteren. Weten hoe je kleirolletjes rolt. Ervaring met porselein is niet noodzakelijk maar wel een goede basis in klei!!

Kiho : Pressing with fingers to make the thickness consistent is awfully time-consuming process, which continuously made me ask my self of its usefulness. But I learned through this process how to work slowly and see the object as a whole, not in parts.

These three mottos became my guidelines and working philosophy to this day. I am not a robot or machine which make ceramic cut and dried. I make ceramic with my ten fingers. It means that I should work slower, the ceramic-results could be imperfect, and the surface or lines of form could be natural. But obvious, they are beautiful and have humanity. My ten fingers leave trace of coiling on every surface of my works. And they remain on the surface as a texture. I want to say that the texture is trace of my efforts, time, patience. These conceptions and processes of my works give the meaningful result that is calm, moderation, warmth and allowing the time for self examination.
